Comparison

Strong vs Apex Stacked. Which one fits you?

Pick Strong if you want a simple, fast lifting log that has been around for years, an Apple Watch app that can log without your iPhone, and you are happy to track food somewhere else. Pick Apex Stacked if you want your lifting, food, sleep, bloodwork and any TRT, peptide or supplement protocol in one app, with your next weights worked out for you. Both have a free plan, so you can try each one before you pay.

Apex Stacked limits to know. It is dark theme only, has no web app, and does not support iPad on iOS. If you need any of these, check Strong's listings for its own device and theme support before you choose.

Where Apex Stacked is the better pick

Switching from Strong

You don't have to start from zero.

Apex Stacked reads a general CSV layout. It is not built around Strong's export in particular, so check the review screen before you save. Strong's help center also says its exported files cannot be imported back into Strong.

Questions

Is Apex Stacked a Strong alternative that also tracks nutrition?

Yes, if you want food in the same app as your lifting. Apex Stacked has a built-in food log with free barcode scanning and one daily calorie and macro target. Strong's help center describes importing macros from an Apple Health compatible nutrition app, or typing in total calories, rather than a built-in food log.

Can I move my workout history from Strong to Apex Stacked?

Strong's help center says you can export your data from its settings in a CSV format. Apex Stacked can import a CSV export from another app, or a workout you paste in. You review what was read before anything is saved, and you can link oddly named lifts to an exercise in the library. Check the review screen carefully, because Apex Stacked reads a general CSV layout and is not built around any one app's export.

Which costs less, Strong PRO or Apex Pro?

On October 17, 2026, the US App Store listing described Strong PRO as $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, and also listed a one-time Strong PRO Forever purchase. Apex Pro is $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year, and Apex Pro + AI is $8.99 a month. Both apps have a free plan. Prices are US prices and can change, so check each app's store listing for the current price in your country.

Which has the better Apple Watch app?

It depends on how you train. Strong's App Store listing says its Apple Watch app can log workouts with or without your iPhone. The Apex Stacked watch app is free on every plan and runs the live workout, rest timer and RIR from your wrist, but it is a companion that needs your iPhone. If you want to leave your phone in the locker, Strong is the better fit.

Does Apex Stacked plan my progressive overload?

Yes. On the free plan, your saved workouts get their next weights from progressive overload. Apex Pro builds a training week for you every week on your phone, with no AI, plans overload across the week and builds deload weeks. Strong's store listings describe your own routines and say it is optimized for progressive barbell routines such as StrongLifts 5x5, so with Strong you set the program.
